You know you are planning on feeding the kids Mac & cheese or chicken nuggets again. Now you don't have to wonder what will the grown ups eat! I want to introduce you to Gregory Paul's, A Modern American Kitchen - Freshly Prepared Meals & Catering.
Last week, Greg and his wife and business partner, Katie, kindly provided my husband and me a spectacular meal for two to sample and review. I was blown away! We have had pre-prepared, heat and eat meals before, and, honestly, have been underwhelmed. But, for some reason, must be something magical in his kitchen, Greg's meals are restaurant-quality, you wouldn't know it was pulled out of the fridge and popped into the oven for a few minutes. Let me give you the details:
I selected a particularly grown-up meal, "Shrimp with Thai Red Curry Sauce". Of course, this had a little heat, it had red curry, after all, but I knew that our son would be eating something more his speed that night, so did not worry. And, really, that is the point of Gregory Paul's' food -- it is for a more mature pallet. Back to the details!
The meal came in one aluminum dish, and my husband's first comment when he saw it was something like "glad we have that leftover pizza". Obviously he thought it would not be enough. Looks are very deceiving in this case, because there was really almost too much! A very generous serving of jasmine rice, at least 6 to 8 large shrimp each, red peppers, pea pods, bean sprouts and a fabulous coconut milk-based sauce. We were stuffed. I had even selected a side - Hearts of Palm Salad, but I had it for lunch the next day. It was still fresh and crisp, and the dressing (on the side) was wonderful. But, most importantly, back to the shrimp -- I really could not believe that it was so moist and tender! After reheating in the oven, I was certain that it would be dry and overcooked. Not so!
This is the kind of meal you would expect to eat out on a date night at a very nice restaurant. The food is that good. But, you will get servings for two for about the price of a serving for one at that restaurant. And, you don't have to pay crazy prices for a glass of wine! Drink your own!
Bottom line: Take care of yourself and Eat Like a Grownup when you can! Go to the website, pick something that sounds wonderful, and shoot out an email or call to place your order ahead. You don't have to, you can just drop in, but I find if you don't commit, you might find a reason to just blow it off tonight and eat the mac and cheese (Ugh!)
